Project Heart Beat

Poem Submission Deadline: March 3, 2023
Concert Date: May 19, 2023

Project Heart Beat is a collaboration between local schools and education arenas, educators, and parents.

If there was ever a time for artists to partner with educators, it’s now. If there was ever a time for artists to breathe life and hope into families, we are living in it. While our children have bounced back from distance learning, missing friends and missing the creative outlets they find in public spaces, parents have worked hard to juggle schedules and learn new technology. Educators have worked tirelessly to provide inroads for our children to engage in new ways.

Project Heart Beat is a poetry contest for students in our community—grades 3 through 12. Poems will be based on the themes of HOPE, FRIENDSHIP, and COURAGE. Winners from each grade will be chosen, and a team of local musicians and songwriters will write songs using the lyrics of the students’ poetry. These songs will be then performed at a live concert celebrating and honoring the students. At the concert, awards like instruments, vocal lessons, guitar and piano lessons, music education, and gift certificates to local restaurants, retailers, and music stores will be given to the students.

2023 Professional songwriters include:
